1 Background
The project is located at the Xindu Chemical Plant in Yingcheng, Hubei Province. As a typical chemical industrial area, it is characterized by the storage and use of a variety of flammable, explosive, corrosive and hazardous chemicals, including low-temperature liquid nitrogen, formaldehyde and liquid ammonia with dense pipelines, complex process equipment, and limited construction space. 2 REPSUN Solution--A total of 8 sets of smart grounding system monitor need to be installed at 8 monitoring points for this project, among which 7 sets of smart GSM16 at 7 monitoring points are installed and constructed by the loop method. The rest of 1 point adopts smart GSM36. At present, these 8 sets of smart GSM have been commissioned and successfully powered on and put into operation.
Monitoring Point 6 was installed using the loop method. Despite the harsh conditions, the server was successfully applied. It features the same core functions as the GSM36 series: automatic self-testing and data recording, configurable threshold values with alarm triggering, on-site LCD screen operation, historical data traceability, and configurable interval-based grounding resistance testing.
After installation, the measured grounding resistance at this point is 0.08 Ω, a very low value that confirms the effectiveness of the grounding system at the liquid nitrogen tank area.
Monitoring Point 1 is located within the ammonium chloride production area and adopts the three-point test. The measured grounding resistance at the monitoring point 1 is 0.15 Ω, a value well below industry safety standards.
3 Project Achievement
REPSUN smart grounding system monitor: Smart GSM16 and Smart GSM36, have been installed on-site and officially put into operation. These smart grounding system monitor not only successfully overcomes the construction challenges posed by the complex on-site environment but also greatly enhances the convenience of subsequent maintenance, while ensuring the accuracy and reliability of grounding resistance monitoring data.
The Smart GSM16 and Smart GSM36 can continuously collect real-time grounding resistance data around the clock, effectively ensuring the safe and stable operation of the plant's grounding and lightning protection systems. This application fully demonstrates the excellent performance and practical value of the smart grounding monitor under complex working conditions.
